REGULAR MEETING

Mayor Pro Tem Ed Dahlem called the meeting to order.

ROLL CALL
C.A.O. Leidgen conducted the roll call. Present were: Commissioner and Mayor Pro Tem Ed Dahlem; Commissioners Earl Hubbuch, Ben Jackson, and Lois Wagner; Attorney John Singler; Treasurer Bill Bennett and C.A.O. Jim Leidgen. Mayor English was not in attendance. A quorum of the Commission was present.

PLEDGE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Pro Tem Dahlem.

RECOGNITION OF GUESTS
No guests were in attendance.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Wagner referred to a typographical error in the minutes of the July 9, 2013 regular meeting of the Commission and then made the motion to approve those minutes as corrected. Her motion was seconded by Commissioner Dahlem. Motion carried.

BUSINESS ITEMS
Municipal Order 13-23 Relating to Check Register Approvals for June, 2013. After discussion, Commissioner Jackson made the motion to approve MO 13-23; his motion was seconded by Commissioner Wagner. Motion carried.

ATTORNEY’S REPORT – Attorney Singler
Attorney Singler brought the Commission up-to-date on the Kaplan property. After discussion about this matter, Mayor Pro Tem Dahlem made the motion that Attorney Singler proceed with filing foreclosure proceedings on this property. His motion was seconded by Commissioner Jackson. Motion carried.

ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT – C.A.O. Leidgen
C.A.O. Leidgen reported there had been power outages and damage in the City during a recent storm, including a car which had been damaged by a fallen tree.

Mr. Leidgen said there has been some dialogue regarding changes in the sound barrier wall which is proposed to be built along I-64. A meeting will be held in the near future with individuals from the Kentucky Department of Transportation as well as officials from other agencies about this issue.

GENERAL GOVERNMENT REPORT – Commissioner Dahlem
No report.

PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT – Commissioner Hubbuch
All of the street lights are on at Williamsburg Place.

CODE ENFORCEMENT/SANITATION REPORT – Commissioner Jackson
Commissioner Jackson reported that the bushes in the right-of-way on the property located at 312 South Lyndon Lane have not been trimmed back. C.A.O. Leidgen will follow up on this.

The incorrectly installed gate had now been removed.

The next junk pickup day will be on October 19. Commissioner Dahlem stated there are a number of trash cans that are left at the curb on trash pickup day which is unsightly. The City is paying for rear door pickup and it was understood that some residents might not like individuals in their rear yards. However, others might not know that there is collection from the rear. C.A.O. Leidgen will contact Rumpke in an effort to try to get at least some of these cans away from the street and front yards.
